A Word from our pastor

What a joy and honor it is to serve Martha Bowman UMC as your Senior Pastor! Martha Bowman has had such a wonderful history of faithful service to the Lord.

There are so many things that excite me as I think about being at Martha Bowman! First, I am thrilled to be able to be in ministry with my wife, Fran. We first met in a ministry setting and I believe the Lord has created us to serve together as a ministry team. Second, it is obvious that the church is blessed with a dedicated and talented staff. Third, we have strong lay leadership and it is encouraging to see their spiritual depth, love for the Lord, and their passion for His kingdom. In addition to that, during these past two years, I have loved meeting and enjoyed being with many of you. These opportunities have come through events and activities such as, but not limited to, going out to eat, attending senior adult retreats, attending church in both the Traditional and Contemporary services, attending Sunday School, Christmas parties, playing golf, and enjoying great food and driving the golf carts during Food Truck Fest. I am really excited about getting to know all of you better and the joy we will experience as we serve the Lord together.

As I join with you in ministry, I am grateful to know that we have outstanding music at both services; that we have a praying church; that we do and have done children’s and youth ministry well; that we have a pre-school; that we are mission-minded and service-oriented; that we do missions, locally, nationally, and internationally.

Martha Bowman, thank you for being you! We serve an awesome God!

In response to all of God’s goodness and blessings, David proclaims these words in Psalm 103: 1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

As we experience His goodness and His blessing may we forget none of His benefits and bless His holy name together!
